Petrova’s Promise met Anastasia and her four foster children in February of 2021. Anastasia originally started fostering two children, but then took on two additional foster children that were diagnosed as being HIV positive. Because HIV is so stigmatized in Russia, she had neighbors threatening to burn down her house because she took these two adorable and innocent children into her home. After meeting her and her beautiful family, Petrova’s Promise decided to move them into our flat to live.

Anastasia's oldest child is Anna and she was born in 2013. She has been diagnosed as being overweight and the doctors are looking into helping her with this condition.  Ksyusha, her second oldest child, was born in 2015. She was born with multiple genetic defects, which have caused her to have mild physical problems, but severe cognitive delays.  She is the most involved of all of the children. In addition, she has a problem with her heart. We are also concerned about a scar on her head as we are not sure how she obtained it. She could have fallen or, sadly, been beaten in the orphanage. Rita was born in 2016 and was born with HIV, as well as a problem with her heart. She also has problems with her speech. Sasha was born in 2016 and was also born with HIV and some sort of heart problem. Sadly, his mother took illegal drugs when she was pregnant which caused him to have problems with his height.  Anastasia is now looking to bring two more orphans into our home and her family so that she can help even more children.

09/2022 FAMILY UPDATES: Anastasia has taken custody of a sweet little girl named Nadya. She is HIV positive but is doing so well now that she is being given her medication. (Her birth mother was not providing her with her much needed medication.) She is so happy to be in Anastasia’s family!

Laws prevent foreign adoption of Russian children, and disabled orphans are deemed undesirable and separated from society. Petrova’s Home is the first of its kind—a foster home and family environment for orphans with disabilities.

LEARN MORE

When a Russian orphan enters into Foster care the Russian Government will pay a small stipend for the care of the child(ren) as well as the salary of the caregiver. Petrova’s Promise will then add to both of these fees in order to ensure the best care is provided to the child.

Disabled Russian orphans rarely have access to medical care and equipment. Petrova's Promise is dedicated to helping the children that the world has forgotten about by providing medical care and equipment to children to help them grow and thrive.
